Are you ready for take off?!

March10

AVID Students, are you ready to take-off to your futures?! Be sure you have taken care of this pre-flight business:

Seniors – You have a scholarship tracker due Monday! EVERY student is REQUIRED to complete this to illustrate your work trying to #closethegap. Remember, this is everything you applied to or were awarded. Use this list as a guide:

  1. College Greenlight site scholarships (remember we entered some last June)
  2. Institutional scholarships you applied for/were awarded by any school
  3. Private scholarships you applied for, i.e. DELL, Gates, Pullman, Coca-Cola etc.
  4. Mentor Program Scholarships, i.e. STAR, One Million Degrees, Bottom Line, etc.

Freshmen – You should be completing your virtual voyage on Roadtrip Nation through Naviance. Be sure you do the following BEFORE you write your reflection. Reflections are due Monday, March 12, 2018.

  • Complete “What’s Your Road?”
  • Watch minimum of 3 videos
  • Go into My Planner – Tasks Assigned to Me-“Roadtrip Nation Reflection” and read the question to answer
    • After viewing at least 3 interviews, describe the leader you related to most and explain why you related to this leader – USE TIQUAL format
  • Proofread before you submit – this is a CPS assigned task so make it your best writing. You can’t take back a 1st impression.

March7

Hey AVID Peeps, there are some exciting opportunities this month for you!

Encourage your parents to attend with you and it will an evening of fun. It is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE, so get that in ASAP. And you get to spend even more time with me, your favorite teacher on a college campus. This is what AVID is all about, so be a part of the fun!
